23 Korean Christians from Daejeon Visit Ansan Mosque
Ansan, South Korea: A group of 23 Korean Christians from Daejeon visited Ansan Mosque and Islamic Center at around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24. During the visit, they met Mufti Faijullah Aman, the imam of Ansan Mosque, and engaged in an extended discussion on Islam, Christianity, and interfaith understanding.
The visitors shared their questions about Islam and expressed an interest in learning more about its fundamental beliefs and teachings. The discussion focused particularly on the Islamic understanding of Prophet Jesus (Isa), his return at the end of time, and the belief in the oneness of God.
During the conversation, one of the youngest members of the group asked whether Muslims would worship Jesus when he returns.
In response, Mufti Faijullah Aman explained that Muslims believe Prophet Jesus will return before the end of time, but they do not worship him. In Islam, Jesus is revered as a prophet and messenger of God, while worship is reserved exclusively for the One God. According to Islamic belief, Jesus himself worshipped God, and upon his return, he will judge according to the teachings of the Quran.
The explanation surprised some of the visitors and led to further discussion about the differences and common points between Islamic and Christian beliefs. The participants exchanged views in a respectful atmosphere and spent more than an hour discussing religious questions.
Light refreshments were served at the end of the meeting. The visitors departed in good spirits following the conversation.
Visits and interfaith discussions of this kind provide opportunities for people of different religious backgrounds to learn about one another, address questions, and build mutual understanding. Such exchanges also create opportunities to explain Islamic beliefs in a respectful and welcoming environment.
